After being captured as a child and turned into a war mascot by the Portuguese colonial army in 1967, João now dreams of reuniting with his brother, who remained back home, and reclaiming his stolen identity. Just as he is about to embark on this journey, his body, battered by a life of wandering, fails him. But he entrusts the director with more than just a message: he gives her a mission.
