PALESTINE, A HISTORY
From antiquity to the Ottoman conquest, through the British Mandate, the United Nations Partition Plan and the creation of the State of Israel, the Arab-Israeli wars, the Gaza Intifada, the Oslo Accords, the settlement of the West Bank, and on to October 7th, 2023 and the war in Gaza – the history of Palestine is an international time bomb: the story of the most disputed territory in our contemporary history.
This historical documentary series (3 x 60′) asks a question that is both essential and urgently topical: what do we really mean when we speak of Palestine?
For the first time, a series offers a perspective rooted in the Palestinian territory itself, providing the keys to understanding its historical, geographical and political situation. It draws on a remarkable wealth of previously unseen archives, interviews with leading international historians, and the voices of figures deeply connected to the reality on the ground.
Overseen by a diverse scientific advisory board, the series is designed for a broad audience and will also speak to younger adult viewers. Its ambition is strongly educational: to offer a clear and accessible narrative so that the history of Palestine is no longer the blind spot of Middle Eastern history.
The episodes:
1 – Of land and peoples (1840-18947)
2 – A people without a land (1948-1987)
3 – A land left in ruins (1988-2025)
