There are 200 of them. They want to pay their fair share of taxes to save the world. 200 American, British, German, Austrian, French, Indian and Danish millionaires who, in January 2023, signed a letter asking to be taxed more. Most of them practice philanthropy, but what they say is that it’s up to States to decide on the public good, not the wealthy. The same goes for the future of democracies. Using the means of their elite rank, these “indignant citizens” are tackling four decades of extravagantly rising inequality. The richest 1% now account for two-thirds of the wealth produced.
These millionaires are demanding to be taxed. They implore their governments to do so. But their governments strive to let the rich be rich…
